System and explanation

An outline of the nature of the system and explanation of why it is appropriate to investigation The nature of the system of electroplating is a process for depositing a thin layer of metal on, usually, a metallic base. Objects are electroplated to prevent corrosion, to obtain a hard surface or attractive finish. When I visit the electroplating I will investigate this process in more detail by asking the employees specific questions to gain an outline of the process. I decided to investigate this process because many products are coated in metal to gain an attractive and protective finish. The diagram below will be a basic layout of what I will investigate. Section 1, system choice, objective and research Define 1.3: Define the objectives of the study and include an analysis of the main elements of the system, identifying criteria that it meets

There will be certain aspect that I will need to follow to ensure this report is related to all the objectives, the main elements of electroplating are focused on the below objectives: - I will need a basic knowledge of the process of electroplating and how it is used in the coating of metallic products or materials. - I want to find out why products are coated by electroplating rather than just being manufactures in the certain material they are being coated with.

- How the work force ensure there's safety in the workplace is kept to high standards - How the employees take certain precautions to ensure quality control and quality assurance are kept when electroplating. - What raw materials are used and what their purpose are in electroplating. - I will need to find out if the metal objects are manufactured before or after electroplating. If they are manufactures after electroplating what would they be made into.

What information is needed to meet the objectives of the study and show by careful analysis of the system why this information is important? In order to achieve the main elements in 1.3 there will need to be primary and secondary information obtained for my objectives. - I will need to find out general information on the process of electroplating and what types of Coating methods are used. So that when I visit the company, which specialises in electroplating, I will be able to ask them relevant question and not questions I would be able to find from secondary sources. This research will be obtained from primary and secondary information.

- I will need to find relevant Information from primary and secondary sources so that I can find out why electroplating products are done rather than making them out of the raw material they are being coated with. - I will look into the safety of the employees at the workplace and find out how they are kept safe from the types of machines and chemicals. I will have to find this information form primary sources by taking photographs and asking them questions. - I will need to find out how the products that are being electroplated and what types of procedures are ensured to keep the electroplated products free from faults so that they can be quality assured. This information will be on primary and secondary sources.

- I will need to look at primary and secondary sources to find out the function of the raw materials and what they are used for when electroplating. This is so that I know they are being used for a purpose rather than being wasted. - I will need to find out if the metal objects are manufactured before or after electroplating. This is so that I can find out if the metal is damaged in anyway when it has been manufactured after electroplating to find out the quality of the electroplated metal Read Full Article.

Section 1, system choice, objective and research Several sources of primary and secondary information and the techniques appropriate for obtaining this information. In order to obtain the required information in 1.4 I will have to look at secondary and primary information, these are: - I will need to look at various types of information sources to find out if electroplating is better than making the product from the electroplated raw material.

Primary information - When I visit the electroplating company I will observe the machines and chemicals used to see if they are dangerous to the employees. This information will have to be obtained by primary sources i.e. photographs. - When I visit the electroplating company I will have a structured interview planed from a list of questions. The manager will then answer the questions and I will be provided with answers. These answers will be primary information. - Once I have gained the secondary information and have constructed questions, I will have to make a date for myself to visit the company. This will have to be done myself and therefore comes under the category of primary sources. I will have to call 01268 752037 to organise the date.

- Also when I visit the company I will have to take photos of the machines, processes, and end product. This will again be primary information; I will have to use a camera. Secondary information - I will need to locate as much secondary information and the techniques used to electroplate materials from the Internet, reading books and going to search engines like google or yahoo, so that I can compose questions to be asked by the employees. - I will have to look at a route of the transport so that I can make my way to the company. To get to the company I will have to go by train so I will need a British railway map. This map is secondary information that I will collect from a British railway station.
